20,322 Filipinos killed in first 16 months of Duterte regime's 'drug war'
Based on the government's own official statistics (as contained in the 2017 Accomplishment Report released by Duterte's Presidential Communications Office dated December 2017), the 30,000 death toll in Duterte’s “drug war” is VERY CONSERVATIVE.
According to that official government report, a total of 20,322 individuals were killed during anti-drug operations -- 3,967 died in anti-drug operations and 16,355 classified as "homicide cases under Investigation." AND THAT'S JUST FROM JULY 2016 TO NOVEMBER 2017, OR WITHIN 16 MONTHS.
This is why the Marcos administration should now launch an honest-to-goodness investigation and accounting of the "drug war" policy and how it was carried out. NOT DOING SO WOULD ONLY EMBOLDEN THE DUTERTES TO LIE EVEN MORE AND WOULD UNDERMINE BBM'S CREDIBILITY, TO SAY THE LEAST.
Below is the PDF file of the Duterte administration’s “accomplishment report” released on December 2017. The figures on the “drug war” death toll are on Page 25.
